Indications & Use
Indications
For dogs: Prevent and treat vomiting induced by chemotherapeutic agents; prevent vomiting other than motion sickness vomiting; treat vomiting in combination with other supportive therapies.
For cats: Prevent vomiting other than motion sickness vomiting; relieve nausea; treat vomiting in combination with other supportive therapies.
Administration & Dosage
Use of refrigerated product may reduce the pain response associated with subcutaneous injection.
Dogs:
For Prevention and Treatment of Acute Vomiting in Dogs:
Dogs 2-4 Months of Age: Administer Maro pet Injectable Solution subcutaneously at 1 mg/kg (0.45 mg/lb) equal to 0.1 mL/kg (0.1 mL/2.2 1b) of body weight once daily for up to 5 consecutive days.
Dogs 4 months of Age and Older: Administer Maro pet Injectable Solution intravenously over 1-2 minutes or subcutaneously at 1 mg/kg (0.45 mg/lb) equal to 0.1 mL/1 kg (1 mL/22 Ib) of body weight once daily for up to 5 consecutive days.
In dogs that are actively vomiting, itis recommended to initiate treatment with Maro pet Injectable Solution.
For Prevention of Vomiting in Dogs 4 months of Age and Older Caused by Emetogenic Medications or Chemotherapeutic Agents: Administer Maro pet Injectable Solution intravenously over 1-2 minutes or subcutaneously at 1 mg/kg (0.45 mg/lb) of body weight one time, 45-60 minutes prior to use of emetogenic medications or chemotherapeutic agents.
Cats:
For Treatment of Vomiting in Cats 4 Months of Age and Older:
Administer Maro pet Injectable Solution intravenously over 1-2 minutes or subcutaneously at 1 mg/kg (0.45 mg/lb) equal to 0.1 mL/kg (0.1 mL/2.2 lb) of body weight once daily for up to 5 consecutive days. The underiying cause of acute vomiting should be identified and addressed in dogs and cats that receive CERENIA Injectable Solution. If vomiting persists despite treatment, the case should be re-evaluated.

Precautions & Warnings
- Administer this injection at least 1 hour in advance to prevent vomiting. For prevention of chemotherapy-induced vomiting in dogs, administration prior to chemotherapy delivers better antiemetic efficacy.
- Vomiting may be a concomitant symptom of severe diseases (e.g. intestinal obstruction). Confirm a definite diagnosis in dogs and cats before using this product.
- Use with caution in dogs and cats with liver dysfunction.
- The safety of this product has not been established for dogs younger than 8 weeks, cats younger than 16 weeks, as well as pregnant or lactating bitches and queens. Veterinary risk-benefit assessment is required if administration is necessary.
- Maropitant has affinity for calcium and potassium ion channels. Use with caution in dogs and cats with cardiac diseases, and concomitant use with calcium channel antagonists is prohibited.
- Subcutaneous injection often causes transient pain in dogs and cats; proper animal restraint measures can be adopted. Injecting refrigerated product can relieve injection pain.
- Maropitant has a plasma protein binding rate as high as 99% in dogs and cats, which may result in competitive binding with other drugs featuring high plasma protein binding rates.
- No compatibility studies have been conducted between this product and other veterinary drugs. Do not mix this product with other veterinary preparations in the same syringe.
- Maropitant pharmacokinetics vary with age in cats; juvenile cats exhibit higher maropitant clearance compared with adult cats.
- Keep out of reach of children.
- Skin local allergic reactions may occur to handlers upon contact with this product; long-term or repeated exposure also increases skin allergy risks. Wear protective gear during administration. Rinse contacted skin thoroughly with soap and clean water in case of accidental exposure.
