Ingredients & Efficacy
Active ingredient: Dexmedetomidine hydrochloride
Precautions & Warnings
- Dogs and cats shall fast for 12 hours prior to administration.Treated animals shall be kept warm under constant‑temperature environment during drug effect and recovery.
- Ocular lubricant shall be used to prevent corneal desiccation caused by dark‑reflex‑induced eye‑opening suppression under sedation.
- Rest dogs and cats for 15 minutes after injection. Sedative‑analgesic effect onset: 5‑15 min; peak effect: 15‑30 min post‑injection.
- μg/kg dose decreases as body weight increases.
- Contraindicated in dogs and cats with cardiovascular disorders, respiratory disorders, hepatic‑renal disorders, conditional shock induced by heat, cold or fatigue, severe debilitation or stress.
- Contraindicated in animals hypersensitive to dexmedetomidine or any excipients (methylparaben / propylparaben).
- Use cautiously with anticholinergic agents.
- Safety data are unavailable for dogs younger than 16 weeks and cats younger than 12 weeks. Safety studies in male breeding animals have not been performed.
- Safety in pregnant and lactating dogs and cats has not been established; use in gestation and lactation is not recommended.
- Adverse reactions induced by this product may be reversed by atipamezole hydrochloride injection. After reversal of sedation‑analgesia, pain perception remains; continued pain management is required.
- Exercise extreme caution when handling sedated dogs and cats. Any manipulation or sudden stimulus may trigger defensive‑aggressive behaviour even under deep‑apparent sedation.
- Keep out of reach of children. Avoid direct human body contact during handling. In case of eye contact: flush continuously with clean water for minimum 15 minutes. In case of skin contact: wash thoroughly with soap and remove contaminated clothing. Local dermal/oral exposure or accidental human injection may cause sedation, hypotension, bradycardia. Seek immediate medical assistance if such exposure occurs.
- For use under veterinary supervision only.
- Do not freeze.
